Sydney Harbour at Dusk - Keeper?I like it but not sure... 20sec exposure - IOS400 F/11
C & C Welcome ![]()
It seems a little washed about but given the exposure i guess that is to be expected. I think the movement of the ferry in the bottom left hand corner is also a bit distracting. I would maybe PS that out.
At the end of the day, if you like it then that's all that matters. ![]()
I'd be tempted to bump up the contrast on the shot. That'll get the sky a little less brown and get the colours looking better.
It's a nice vantage point you took the shot from - where was it? Pentax istDS+K10D. Pentax 50mm f1.4, Sigma 10-20mm, Tamron 90mm f2.8 macro, Kit Lenses. http://www.redbubble.com/people/berndt2
Thanks, I'll give it a try. It was from the thirty-somethingth floor of the Shangri-La Hotel (through a window) Had the 350D on a mini tripod resting on the window sill, It's a minor miracle you can see anything! ![]() I'm not sure it's something I'd print out but it makes a great desktop background!
Personally, I'd crop half the sky, and definitely play with levels or curves to up the contrast. It has the makings of a good shot, but needs a little work.

Definitely a keeper - with some bumping of levels. About 30 seconds of Photoshop work should do the trick
![]() I'd probably crop a tiny bit off the bottom, and about half the sky too ![]() *** When getting there is half the fun! ***
yes much better

I prefer the original image. I like its softness....it is a more sensual photograph. Just goes to show that there is no figuring for personal taste! I think you should always go with your gut feeling because it's your creation and I think your first instinct was spot on. Regards

Thanks Matt. I have been playing around with it quite a lot and have still not got it to the point where I am 100% happy with it. Although I think that's more to do with my lack of Photoshop skill ![]() ![]() I like them both - I agree with you about the softness, although the second is a lot more dramatic. I'll probably change my mind (again) tomorrow! As you say, personal taste...
