Tassie images from recent holiday.

Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Tassie images from recent holiday.

Hi All,

It's been a long time, no post...just too busy, unfortunately!

I was recently in Tasmania on a weeks holiday and managed to take over 1600 images. Also lucky to have aquired a Sigma 10-20mm, which I just adore! Tasmania is one of the most beautiful places on this earth I have discovered! Cradle Mountain is simply stunning, and so is Mt Field and Lake Dobson. I can't wait to go back again!

Anyway, as with taking any travel photography, being at a particular place for such a short time, one has to make do with the light/weather that is presented, often photographing in difficult and high contrast situations, unable to 'hang around' for more subtle light. Here is a sample of some of my 'better' images.

#1 is obviously Cradle Mt, and I know the 4th is the lookout at Mt Wellington.. where are the other two?

Completely agree with Tassie being a beautiful spot. I went for the first time in January, and I will DEFINITELY be back.

Looks like you had great weather when you went to Cradle Mt. We lucked out as well - climbed it, and got burnt to a crisp doing it :)

I will check out your full gallery later for sure.

Oops, should have stated where they were! #1, yes Cradle Mountain, #2 , Henty Sand Dunes on the road between Zeehan and Strahan, #3 Lake Dobson in Mt Field National Park, and #4 Mt Wellington, Hobart.

The weather was pretty much perfect the whole time with predominantly blue skies. Would have been nice for a little cloud cover for less contrast in some of the bush/forest/waterfall scenes, but not to worry, made do with what we had ;)

What a wonderful collection of images. That first shot reminds me a lot of Loch Ness. You have really captured the immence beauty of Tassie.

Hi Jane, the Lake Dobson one is my favourite. The reflections are really nice.
We keep meaning to go back to Mt Field as it's only 2 hours drive from home. You've given me inspiration to get back up there soon. Maybe with a bit of snow around if the weather cooperates.

Jane, I just finished looking thru your website at the full 6 days of photos. You certainly saw a lot of Tasmania in 6 days. I feel you have captured the essence of Tasmania in your images and I enjoyed reading the commentary. I hope you are going to print a book for yourself to remember this trip - the Memento style. Maybe you could think of having it published - you've certainly got enough great shots and a really interesting commentary. A most enjoyable read/viewing. Congratulations on some great work.

Thankyou John! :D We certainly did see a lot of Tassie in a week, should really have done it in 2, but that wasn't possible at the time. No need to print a book, it's published on my web site...that in itself took 4 weeks to do!

I just hope that I will inspire anyone who reads it, takes the time to go and see Tassie - a beautiful and truly remarkable place, and IMO a landscape photographers dream!

Love the composition of the first picture jane but i think you could have extracted a little more out of the image with a bit more post processing. I had a play for less than 5 min in photoshop and came up with this:

Man Tripod, my posted image is more representive of what the actual scene was like, although I really like what you have done to it! I would be really interested in how you achieved this, I assume it's a bit more than just adjusting the saturation? I'm still a relative newbie when it comes to Photoshopping!

Second one for me, very nice. I also like the change that Man Tripod has done to your image.

Tassie is a great place, always loved visiting. BTW, congrats on being mentioned/interviewed for an article in Capture magazine. Were there any of your photos in the article?
