I love Number two, a little gothic even.......with the first one i would use the levels tool in phtoshop and select the black dropper and click on the man to get true black and eliminate the noise........

i actually added noise to give it an 'old' feel to it. I set the white point for the window light, but when i set a black point for the man, it darkened too much of the photo, so i left it at that.

I meant just to get rid of the noise in the blacks....i can for instance use Imagenomic (noiseware software) to take all noise out of shadow (blacks) , but it will leave the noise in the mid and highlight sources....Use layers if it darkens it too much and just erase away the areas you dont want darkened....

okay, i've masked the man and used a brush to paint him black...
looks a tad bit different, but i don't mind either actually
