Pat and I were given the opportunity to shoot our first wedding on Saturday - a great experience. Stressful, but very rewarding. Already looking forward to doing it again. :D

Any comments, good or bad, will be welcome.

I like them all Macka. Is that the 85/1.8 proving it's worth again?

Laurie, the short answer is "we don't know". We both love photography. This weekend was great, I'd certainly like to do more. However, this year at least, Uni remains the priority for both of us. In future...who knows? :D

Haha, I don't think it was too serious.

Actually, it was Geoff's 50 1.4, which he kindly lent us for the event (thanks again, Geoff :D ). I had intended to use the 85 quite a bit, but often found myself in too tight a space for that focal length. The ceremony in particular was very cosy. However, it has already well and truly proved its worth. :)

Macka I dont have time to go through the gallery but i will one day, but just quickly how many other lenses did you use? did you use 2 bodies? was it a paid job or just a favour I'm-going-to-the-wedding-anyways-I-may-as-well-take-some-nice-photos sort of thing?

Laurie,

We both had two bodies - I had two D70s, Pat had a D70s and a D200. I wouldn't do a wedding without a second body. I know some people do, but I wouldn't want to.

I was using a 50 1.4 on one body and the Tokina 12-24 on the other one pretty much the whole time. I also had the 85 1.8 on me.

Pat mostly used the 70-200VR on one body and the Tamron 28-75 on the other, and now wishes he had used the 85 1.8 more.

If we do this more often one day, it will be nice to be able to justify investing in better lenses. :D

It was a paid job. They approached us to do it. Not complete strangers though, the groom is the brother of a close friend of mine.
Cheers,

Nice light, just not enough of it :) We we're shooting around 2.8, ISO800, 1/50 for the formal shots.

Thanks for the comments everyone :D

Great stuff Kris and Patrick. Like it all, only thing I would say is maybe soften the brides face in 1, just a little sharp for her skin and it may be more complimentary to have a tidge of blur there

Natural light looks good? Bit noisy but they are nicer than brightly flashed shots.

awesome job at your first wedding, really like mood set by all the photos. the last pic seems to have the focal point more towards the centre of the frame. but thats nit-picking... well done!

Nice :)
I especially like #2 :)

I only think that the white balance in #3 should be changed so that her dress is white, assuming that it was a white dress (this is my opinion only).
and would have liked to see her nose infront for #4, but it's just my thoughts and visualisation, I don't really know if it would really be better nor not.

Well done, keep at it! :D

Thanks a lot for all the comments, guys. Might post a few more from the wedding at some stage.

Yeah, some people on OCAU mentioned that as well. The dress was an off-white colour. The reason that photo is sort of pinky is because it was taken just after the sun disappeared, and there was this amazing pink/orange light that only lasted for a few moments. Decided not to correct the white balance as this shows to some extent what it was actually like.
