Ladder to nowhere

Taken at Jenolan Caves on the weekend. This is a rickety old ladder near the end of the Lucas Cave, which used to be the way down to the River and Pool of Cerberus Caves. However, it is now rusted to hell and rather unsafe, so a stairway is now used that bypasses the ladder.

I actually cranked up the grain on this one as I think it suits it rather well :)

Very Spooky Des! Good one.
Can you share your settings with us for this shot?

Sure thing.

D200, f/3.5 @ 1/30. 18mm using the 18-200VR (VR is a godsend in caves!!). ISO 1600. WB adjusted in PP to Incandescent. I aggressively oversharpened in Bibble Pro to accentuate the grain.

I found I was shooting between 1/10 and 1/30 most of the time while I was in there, which wasn't really a problem due to the focal length and the assistance of VR. If I needed to go to 200mm for whatever reason, I broke out the SB-800.
