Been making the most of the loan of the brollies, and extra lighting Kit (Thanks again Paul, your a champ!). So some of you are familar with the dark days of our office head shots in the air condition closet, well the first image shows the results plus I'll admit very very bad PP on my part. Anways what had been deemed the chimpmunk photo is a think of the past and has now been replaced the shot #2 .

The setup for the shot was shooting through a white umbrella on camera right at 1/8 and it was maybe a metre of a little more from Kate. On camera left we have a bare flash bouncing into a white wall and all a little window light spilling in from left and rear (but at the shutter speed I'd say it was offering very little). I'd tried earlier some rim lighting but Kate didn't like the affect but is pleased with this shot.

#1 Kate's old shot, ISO 200, 1/500, F9, kit lens

#2 Kate's new shot, ISO 200, 1/160s, f5.3, 50 f1.4

Much better, Craig. That's a really nice portrait of Kate. Exposure and white balance look spot on.

Very impressive Craig. Can't decide if it is the Tiffanys heart or your skills which make the second image.

Great stuff Craig - a definite improvement you should be proud of. The second shot really shows the use of light well. Well done.

Craig,

As others said, a great improvement.

I do find though that the subject blends into the dark background too much for my liking and back lighting would provide some separation. Considering your set-up it's a great result.

#2 is certainly an improvement Craig but keep in mind that you can use light to sculpt your subject, this gives more 3D appearance

Great work Craig :D

I'd be interested to see some of the shots with rim lighting, as I think the only thing letting the 2nd down is lack of separation from the background.
