I like your second one best, as your eyes are drawn to the people in the distance. The objects at the waters edge, catch my attention in the first shot, and are a little distracting. Are they "Bluebottles"? Maybe a lower perspective, with them taking up more of the foreground could help.
That looks like a beautiful spot, if you rise early enough.

Second one is excellent, and I think the first would be a stronger image if the foreground was cropped to the water, or made into a panorama with the sky as the top third. Certainly worth getting up for to see!

Beautiful!
I must say the coloured rocks in the original foreground of #1 are interesting, a lower shot (with the camera at sand-level) might produce something interesting including both the rocks and the sky. The colours complement each other!

i tend to agree with you dave about the stones. next time i see clouds out there i'll try what you say.
