And now for something completely different....

....from me that is!

The PM was in town, so I thought I'd go down and get some people photos. I don't care about politics much, and this post is not political, so lets keep it that way. :D

There were a LOT of police there and I was asked to get some shots of the Police doing their jobs, so here you go:

And the reason they were there at all:

The lighting was very difficult for the PM shot, To far away for fill flash, with mottled light. If I exposed for the light, the image was way to dark and vice versa. So I had to find a happy medium. So, that explains the blown highlight.

To their credit, the crowd was really well behaved and dignified, unlike some protests I've seen. :D

And, just so you don't think all the POlice were unhappy men in overalls:

C&C Welcomed, like I said, this is something new for me.

The first two are great. Not too sure about the third one. :P

Alan,

Your use of selective focus in the second is excellent.

The third ... there's not enough of that image with blown highlights, I'm afraid.

And not a doughnut in sight!

Cheeky bastard!

Thanks for the comments folks, the crowds weren't as big as I'd hoped, certainly the Police (the ones hidden away) nearly outnumbered them, so I had to blur the foreground and backgrounds and focus on single people.

The lens was the venerable 120-300 F/2.8.

Cheers!

They are great shots, Raskill. I like the last one, it's a good natural photo, and a great smile.

John who? Is he from Big Brother? (Hmmm, a Freudian slip perhaps)

I agree with the others before me who like the selective focus image.

The 2nd is probably my favourite.

I do get the feeling that you've enhanced the saturation a bit too far (those reds and blues in the first image are trying to jump off the screen!). Opening the images in Ps and assuming sRGB confirms that it's not my web browser doing silly colour things...

Great pics!

They are great pics, but the second anf four are excellent in my view. The 3rd is is not so bad, but you caught him looking a bit whimpish? Maybe you can blackmail him!!
