Thanks to one of your guys who discussed the Russian Lomo camera effect I have used it to get this effect. Possibly is a bit severe, but I like the result.

I've been playing with lomo a bit myself lately. I'm a fan of the high contrast.

Trouble is, in this image, it's made his skin a little blotchy, and his hair blends into the background where it didn't so much before.

I think the original here is nicer, for those reasons.

I agree with you. I simply found it interesting, but like you I like the first one best.
