Glamour Headshot C&C PleaseA big thanks to Pirostitch for helping me resolve some of my Photoshop issues yesterday.

Hi Bruce, I understand that backlighting has red/ orange gel over it and that looks OK, but the subject skin tones are still way too orange. I think the WB issue is still there somehow. Also sharpness wise, I think it could be improved. What aperture did you use? The eyes do not seem to be all that sharp. Pose wise this shot is appealing.
Cheers Alex
The hair needs some fixing here, looks like she just got out of bed... And those eyes need more focus/sharpness.
I could be wrong, but I'm guessing the model went fake tan ???? That accounts for the orange skin - and it really doesn't do anyone any favours

fake tan indeed. that can be corrected in p/shop though so no big issue there. i think what needs working on is the focus - but this might be due to jpeg compression? You'll have to look at the original for this. The finger pose looks a tad odd but that's just me.

hi
i think the orange gel thing only works if its so pronounced and obvious that is tints everything including the hair that way its considered a mood thing rather than a technique to enhance the un-natural looking skin tone i can tell somehow the skin is exentuated becase the hair looks white if the orange gel did affect the whole image its really selective to the skin tones i dont think your photoshop white balance is at fault its the gel or white balance on your camera shoot it at 2700Kelvin regarding pose, hand under chin looks too forced takes away from face this is just a modelling refinement thing but after a few tries im sure you an get it right, extend the fingers across check Wendell Levi Teodoro

If I compare the original file, and the posted file, the sharpness of the eyes is slightly worse, perhaps due to jpeg compression. Are you refering to the focus of the face, or the eyes/lips? I did apply a noise filter/median=2pix via a selective layer mask, which I masked all except the facial skin. So the eyes were not modified, but the skin is much softer. I was at 200mm, f13, 1/125th, iso200.
1. Orange overcast - try less saturation on RAW!
2. Keep focus on eyes, no on hair! 3. ... Keep trying! ![]()
Ive tried to color correct, based on Macka's feedback in another thread.
I think the colors are a little more pleasing in this, what do you think? ![]()
Bruce, I think the colouring of the second version is better but it still needs some "pop". Also, IMHO, the top of her head would have been nice to include!

thanks Matt. I like that hand pose also. She was trying a few different hand positions, and that one worked well for me.
Tried another, with less color, added some sharpening to lips and eyes, and a little blur to the face. ![]()
thanks gerard. agree, and I have tried a few was to hide that line, but failed. THis was from a trial shoot, and we have a makeup artist booked for the next one (can hopefully blend that line a little more).
