Sunset at the SCG

For the longest time, one of my favourite photos was this one:

Taken sometime around 2001 with my first digital camera, an Olympus 2100-UZ.

Last night, I was in almost the same spot and thought - hey, the sunset looks pretty tonight, let me see if I can emulate that old shot of mine.

Here is how it turned out. I had to PP this one in Photoshop as opposed to Bibble, which I use for most of my photos, because I had to clone out some horrific flare/ghosting due to the bright lights, and nothing does that better than photoshop's healing brush. Tokina 12-24 @ 24mm, 1/8 f/8

Slightly different lighting conditions, so I played with it a bit. There are few prettier sights than the sun setting its way past the smog behind the members' stand IMO :)

Wow! Just a tad less of the highlights would have been great but this is fabulous as it is Des - great work!

Thanks guys :)

Simon, I had enough trouble with those damn lights as it was!!! The Tokina 12-24 is usually pretty good at handling flare, but it had no chance against those bad boys...

What you didn't take your grad ND filters to a swans game :)
great shot, shame the swans lost (the padding is too thick on the posts)

I also blame the padding on the posts :)
