I think the first one works great, i like it.

All four are good but I think I &2 are better.
I am also trying to have a different take on motor sport shots ,it's hard to come up with something different and still interesting.

Trent, nice shots all round.

I'll give a mini review of them all.

1 I like. I like the angle, the RPM gauge, the contrast and saturation. I was only thinking this sort of shot the other day and getting the drivers eyes in the mirror. Do you expose for the mirror, the background or the reflection? Your DOF seems very shallow, with the mirror slightly soft. The white pole is unfortunate also, but you could clone it out easily enough.

2 The bright reflections are a distraction, but Ilike the colours and logo placement. Nice use of reflections on the body. You could maybe go for a portrait crop, including just the mirror, logo and side of steering wheel?

3&4 Good images from harsh lighting. Did you use any fill flash. From the looks of the nice blue sky you maybe exposed for the sky and did use some flash? The poses are spot on for small race teams, and the colours are perfect. Let down by the backgrounds, but there was little you could do about that. If you get the opportunity maybe try again in pit lane, looking back up (or down) it?

Nice images all round mate. Hope to be down for Oran Park later in the year, so maybe we could catch up then.

All shots are good. Definitely can be use for some promotional materials

They are all good pictures, but I think the first two are far superior. I believe the people in number 3 and 4 are too concious of themselves and look unnatural, but this is only my opinion. I hope I don't sound bitchy, that is not my intention.

Thanks for the feedback guys! The first two were just spur of the moment, Sigma 120-300 + 1.4x TC, hence the shallow DOF. Alan: drivers eyes in the mirror is a great idea for #1, and thanks for the portrait crop idea for #2, will try that.

The second two were posed shots, fill flash to provide a bit more definition to the faces and the front of the car. Backgrounds are a bit annoying, but the best I could do really. It was either have cars and trailers in the background or EC itself. Probably best this way, even with the power pole and dunny.

how many flashes did you use for the fill? was it on camera?

if possible, it would have been nice to get a flash down low to kill the shadows on both of the fella's faces. the brims of their hats cast a nasty shadow over their faces.

i do agree with zafra, the peopledo look a little posed and un-natural... not entirely comfortable. having said that, these people aren't models, they are drivers and the support team...

good work though, number 1 & 2 are great. perhaps a little more depth of field. but thats just a minor imperfection, imho. definitely usable for promo.

I agree about the Mirror in one and two. There has to be something in there. The driver in the seat with helmet on and visor open would work well if you could get the angle right.

For the last two, if you could have the teams car / trailer in there if it was covered of course, otherwise perhaps have taken it from your left about 2 - 3m (depending on what the background looked like of course).

Nice shots though, one and two are the standouts for me!
