Went out with the bigma which arrived around lunchtime for a quick test. The birds were not about due to the bad weather but managed to find this bloke drying his wings but also a bit shy...... he took off after I shot this. I have used 500mm mirror lens before, which are very light when compared to the Bigma 50-500. This new lens for me is yet another learning curve in the wonderful world of photography

Dragged a Bigma around east Africa on safari last year. It's big beast but it's sharp at the long end. Not super fast, but great lens when the sun is out!

That's a great shot for 500mm "hand held".

Great capture! 500mm is dodgy hand held but you did good.

thanks everyone....... this image has lost a lot of contrast from the original....... hit or miss with smugmug sometimes
