Photos was taken from the boat (without tripod or VR) - this explain few problems with the focus

That first is brilliant. Just enough blur to show the action. Love it

The first shot is a beauti! Be proud!!

The first one, brilliant.

I like these ........ but I have found shooting birds on the wing, you have got to use a fast shutter speed to stop any movement and action say 1000s plus

big pix - but if I use 1000s plus I loose all movement dynamic feeling, and this will be just plastic bird.

Beautiful! And I like the sense of movement.

Nice pictures of a majestic bird, well done.

The focus point on the bird in the first photo is so small but you nailed it which leaves the rest of the bird slightly blurred. I like the effect.

Where were these taken? The Wildlife park or on the Adelaide River cruise?

They are either a Whistling Kite or a Black Shouldered Kite Probably the former. So many around the Top End. Brings back some memories as I grew up there

The first for the small focus and implied movement, also you know that it is looking for the scrap of meat and about to swoop! And the fourth for the majestic beauty a raptor has whilst gliding around. I would have liked to see a little more sharpness on the second and third photos though.

Snapping Handbags are what we called them

I don't quite agree with the whole Jumping Crocodiles thing, means you can't really fish on the Adelaide River anywhere near that area without wondering when you might lose a hand from an over zealous croc

I totally agree with you on this point, because I also love fishing and there this activity can be too risky sport. These crocks are now more unpredictable.
