Lovin my new 17-35mm Nikon!

Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. You bet it is....the whole reason i got it was after seeing your images and hoping (wrongly i might add) that i could take images like you....BUT i was really surprised just how much sharper it was, i don't know maybe i had a dud 17-55, i heard there were a few around....thanks for the comments!

nah 17-35 is the best

somehow the 1.5 crop factor uses the best circle of the lens on the 17-35

something i read in a tech paper

loved it more than my 28-70

nice shots. I didnt want to read this, as I sometimes find the 28-70 too close, and I like the perspective change closer to 17mm.

Nice as always Dan!

Terrific work Dan. You are really using the qualities of 17-35 very well. I agree guys, I love my 17-35 it's a ripper. It also fit in nicely with my efforts to maintain full frame integrity, or at least give me that option if ever Nikon decide to go that way, not that i see anything wrong with the DX alternative :) But it's good to have the optional choice. So I have 12-24 F/4 (the only DX lens in my arsenal), 17-35, 35-70 F/2.8, 70-200VR, 80-400VR.
I do notice however that the 17-35 can be unforgiving on poor technique, certainly in combination with the high res of the D200.
cheers

Good compositions, but one of these days you're going to have to learn not to lose your shadows and your highlights to all buggery.

Shall we demonstrate?

Number 1 has her hair fading into each part. It doesn't take much PP work to bring that out. I'm going to assume you don't know how or that you're not very good at post but all it takes is a bit of patience, feathering, and curves Dan.

Number 2... there go those highlights again. I can assume her right breast (left to us) isn't supposed to be radiating light?

Number 3... so her black bra is made out of the darkest, most evil, and stealthiest technology known to man kind... not if you look at the straps it ain't.

Number 4 is your best. I have nothing to say about it colour wise, but I'd stop making your models lose so much skin composition. They seem plasticy.
