after solid feedback, I think from Leigh, I have been stepping back more on the frame, to crop later in PP as required. However, sometimes you get an image you (or client) likes, and you cant add it back. This is one...

how to crop, love to hear your ideas, or crop it and post it back...

Oz, sorry mate - for me this doesn't work. I think it's great you're experimenting and changing your styles and for that I applaud you. However, this image doesn't appeal to me for a few reasons (and this is only my opinion):

1. The crop makes her look more like a cut off manequin.

2. WB seems to be off (at least on my laptop screen) she seems red/orange.

2. The position (and therefore crop) of HER left arm looks very un natural to me.

Hope this helps?!

Thanks Geoff, appreciate your feedback. I agree, it doesnt work for me either, but, I'm seeking advice on how to get this one over the line. Agree, the camera right arm is a standout error, but I need to crop in close.

colors are as planned, but I dont know what crop works. I want to crop in close, but want to keep the waist... cant have everything I guess...

the expression looks difficult too it looks like shes uncomfortable even though you may have wanted it to look seductive

i woudl sugges tusign a darker background(black or red) to compliment mood shooting against white may be edgy but i dont think in this example it works

also i think you have to give more attention to pose because at the moment it looks unbalanced if you have the time to work out the 2 light gel setup you certainly have time to think about pose even if you have to copy something outof a magazine at least you get an idea

otherwise its good to see soem experimentation

I've had a few more tries at croping this image, and I think I'll have to surrender. another lesson in "get the pose right" "in the camera"!!!

I haven't got much... If in doubt use a odd angle. :)
The pink hair light didn't agree with me so I went b&w.

I think this is a significant improvement and like the B&W conversion, for me, it works. Nicely done.

nice suggestion, think the rotation shifts the focus away from the ambutation, and I like your crop including some of her waist.

Thanks.
I can't say for sure why I did it this way. I think I wanted to remove the empty whitespace. But I wanted to keep as much of her in shot as I could, so this led to the rotation.

I think this works better for me because there are some interesting lines down the left and across her shoulders, even her eyes looking out of the frame.

I would have liked to get the rest of her hair in, but that would have meant changing the 2:3 ratio.
