This is my first image post and would like to start with one of a friendly kookaburra taken while camping with a group of friends. Even though there were heaps of kids running around, he and a few of his friends were happy to hang around I guess looking for food. Hope you enjoy it. Any help or tips appreciated, I'm here to learn.

Hard to say with that image size, but it looks well exposed and reasonably sharp.
I would like to know what it is looking at though.
Great capture though!
Edit: I agree with ATJ below, I think portrait would do this justice! And the larger image shows much more detail, a bit of work with contrast and brightness and you'll have a winner that jumps from the screen!
Notes for next time: I would look for a lower shooting angle (i.e. you laying on the ground, you are a tog people look at you strangely anyway) and perhaps a wider aperture, perhaps starting at about f5.6 (and go wider as the lens permits, i.e. smaller number and have a look at the effect) and focus on his / her eyes.
Cheers
Brett

Hi, how are you, I think generally this is a reasonable capture. In focus, but would consider cropping it a little.

I agree with Brett, it appears sharp and is well exposed.
I recommend you crop it to portrait, however. i.e. the longest side vertically. There is too much space to the left and right of the bird.

Nice shot mate. Like the others said, a bit of cropping would be great.

Thanks for the replies, like I said I'm here to learn and learn I have. Now I see that there were a few things wrong. The focus point would have looked better if it was on the eye but I set it at the body, changing it to portrait I believe makes it look better and adjusting levels has brought more contrast out. I'm sure there are other things that could be done in Photoshop but I am not very good at using it yet. I have made the above adjustments and attached the new photo. Let me know what you think.
