Hey all

Contracted to do some product shots of a new mic to be released

Would love to hear some decent C&C on these.

Used a shooting table, perspex based.
Tungsten left and right of camera bounced off white false ceiling above.
580ex on camera wound back 2 full stops faced up.
Lightsphere PJ with no dome attached.

Yes, the WB is slightly off in the 2nd one..

yep nice shots. Make the first 2 brighter to make the white, whiter like the last one.

Just got word from the customer and his boss, They are wrapped, so I must be on the right track..

These shots are fine, on my screen they look a little flat, but some printing, reproduction houses prefer images that way...... good work

Agree with Ron on the first two.

On the last one I'd be tempted to separate the 'fluffy ball' for want of the correct term, out a bit as well...

yeh i gotta agree, i had a play with the first one in PS
adjusted the curves to boost the white and it does look better, however you have heard back from the the client so as long they are happy that is all that matters.

Kyle - nice work.

A few pointers:

In #1 shoot portrait as it gives more usable pixels plus there needs to be more detail on the front face.

#2 - the highlight area is very good but the table stand lacks some detail.

#3 - This is a little more detailed. The grip for the mic could have been used for holding the mic as opposed to the white block. Again the detail in the mic is great but there is no detail in the wind shield or holder. Depending on the client requirement I would have cut in much closer to show the main products and only part of the case. The case can be shot solo and inserted in a smaller box as an insert.

how about some close ups? sell the viewer, the textures on the handle, the ergonomics showing that this product is now some el cheapo ebay-o.

what does it look like when in use? set the mindset of the viewer, so its like they already know what it looks like in their hand, a top view?

and lastly, possible consider a hand model, depending on your client (and ultimately their's), a appropriate hand model (male and or female) may show that the mic fits in someones hand... again, all feedback in line with product positioning / marketing / human mindset, not feedback on the pics...
