Beginning with the Children

As a newbie a lot of my shots so far have been of the family.
None of the below have had any work at all. They are all straight out of the camera, literally.
Comments appreciated.

Family is the best subject of all! Your pics are good for a newbie! I'm not sure what camera you are using but don't be afraid to use the flash outdoors, if it has one. It will get rid of those dark shadows. Try using soft window light for pics of children. Find good light and use it. Thanks for posting.

I'm using the D40 to learn some skills. Apart from the 1st shot which was taken inside Questacon in Canberra all of the others were taken outside.
I will try the flash optionin future. Thanks for the feedback.

The second one is tops! Love how the child is isolate from the background which gives the image a nice depth. Look forward to seeing more posts.
