Ducks are easy subjects and I guess that's why so many people take pics of them. I haven't seen a duck pic here for a while so I figure it's time to share a few  These were all taken with the Nikkor 28-70 f/2.8

And just to prove how easy the little buggers are...

Peter.

#1: Good detail but not enough separation from the background for me.

#2: Great angle and expression on the duck's face. The head and eyes look to be lacking some sharpness (to my tired old eyes)

#3: Excellent. Good detail and contrast. Great colours.

#4: Good photojournalism but lacks oomph (I'm not sure why).

Thanks

Agreed on both counts Re: #1. New version below. #4 lacks oomph cos I haven't applied and of my usual PP to it (it's before it's had Stubbsy oomph added  ) which I guess just proves how my good PP skills compensate for my lousy photography skills

Peter,

I still prefer the first version of #1. The second version lacks contrast and that Stubbsy Oomph.

#3 with it's sly upward look at the photographer is excellent, love the colours in the feathers. Now Stubbsy, you reckon ducks are easy, but how about in flight?? :D Get your ultralight out and take real duck photos for us! :D

Hi Peter,

Good attempt at a few duck shots.

Personally, I never look down onto a wildlife subject (as in no. 2) and try to get as close to eye level as possible. Much better effect IMHO.

Pics one and three are my faves.

Cheers
