A couple of stair portraits

Don't really think much of her facial expression in the one below. I think she wanted to show an emotion of being shocked or suprised but it has a hint of smile which spoils it.

Hi Alex. I think with the first one there are too many distracting elements around the edge of the photo. Perhaps add a bit of a vignette to reduce the effect of these?
The second one like you said is not so good due to the facial expression, but I like the little bit of rim lighting you've managed to catch. Maybe if she was a few steps lower the rim lighting would have caught her hair and you could have focussed on a head and shoulders portrait?
