did a quick test shoot with a friend who is a makeup artist but it turned out to be more of a fashion shoot
since it wasn't really planned, story line is a bit disjointed
window light and sb800 flash
window light afternoon sun, hue adjustment in post
2x sb800's + ambient,

Fantastic, Wendell! I like all of them, but the first one is outstanding - great idea on fliping the image to give a floating/flying perception.

I like the tones, you always make them blend rather than having drastic contrasting tones or colours.

First image looks like she's floating or walking

All good images.

Nice shots wendell. I really like the abstract composition of the horizontal cupboard in #1. I also like the colours in #3. Just superb.

Great stuff Wendell. Good use of lighting. My favourite is the second one. The only thing I dislike about the third is the lamp poking out of her head.

Wendell, #1 is very clever, and I really like the mood of #4.
I'm a fan of the way you manage to achieve "sexy" while still being tasteful.

Great images. The past 3 weeks I've done 2 shoots and used the
model to do some 2 x SB800 and the D200, not the D2Xs and the results to date have not been that great. The 2 x SB800's are mounted on lighting stands and using white umbrella's. The SB800's are in TTL
mode and the D200 flash is command (no flash)
mode only. Tried shooting through and boucing the umbrella's. Little or no ambient light.
Would love to know a little more about how you set up the SB800's if you don't mind sharing.
Thanks Mark
PS Again awsome fashion images and I admire your work.

hi im a fan of constrained light light shaping techniques i use is i build custom barn doors out of cardboard or make snoots and attach it to my flash so i narrow the light
i use velro and black pieces of cardboard
the rest is just angles of light where you position the light to get certain effects
in that hotel room i was getting light spill and bounce from the white walls so i carefully positioned each light in certain places not to get this
im not really a fan of bounced flash from umbrellas light distribution is too even and wide
i have two people holdign my flashes so i can move them at any time without muckign around too much with stands

Your control of light Wendell, is excellent. My only critique would be #1 - the right hand verticals, IMO, detract from the flow of the image and could well be cropped out.

#1 is very clever Wendell. I really like the feel in #4, it has great light for the shot.
