Hey everyone, we touched down this morning with more then a few stories to tell, including only 2 days without rain for the entire 5 week trip (frustrating) and our share of dramas at the airport (Heathrow is a joke). Overall we had a great time and I now have the HUGE task of sorting through 20, 737 photos taken over the 5 weeks, please excuse me if I only release them in dribs and drabs as I get the time to sort and PP them.

Thank God for digital, It would have cost you $7K if you were using film.
Better get cracking, you got a few photos to show us.
BTW this is a good start.

Welcome back Craig, looking forward to lots more pics
I really like the painterly light & colour in #2 - rain hasn't hurt this image at all. The windmill has fantastic colour, but I prefer it as a pano crop without the empty foreground & sky. Nice work, can't wait for more.

Beautiful shots - the second is magical! (I think I prefer the original crop of the windmill, though both are effective).

OMG

And I thought the 6600 I took in 3 weeks in NZ was a lot.
As for the images #2 and #4 (original crop) are superb. Keep up the good work

#1 slightly crooked, but damn, i wish i was there
re- pano crop - i'd leave the wheat in the foreground and crop the top out... (sky)

Funny how for your first release you picked something so close to where I used to live, I wish I can go back soon... You sure picked one of the worst Summers

The pictures are nice, #3 is my fav.
Cheers,
Gerard

I love #3 - the original. Good work.
Sounds like you'll have plenty to do at night for a while to come.

Welcome back, Craig and Katie.
#2 is the pick of these for me. You have the composition nailed, with the river occupying the whole of your immediate foreground and providing a beautiful leading line to the chateau.
With the pano crop .... I'd take it even further, and chop some off from the rh side.

Incredible photos of the castle, please don't put all the photos in one post, maybe 10,000 in one and 10,000 in another will do...

No. 2 for me also. A real fairytale quality.
My first look at the crop pano had me convinced there was a couple kissing on the rh side of the picture. Alas it was only the light stand.

Great images, really nice. Welcome back Craig and Katie. Craig do you realise that is 592 images a day, or 24.68 an hour based on 24 hours. You took an image every two minutes you were away, sleeping or not! Impressive.

But Max I'm limited to 4 a post, so it will have to be 5000 odd posts, and well I think my post count is high enough without it ballooning out more.
I'm going to be *very* selective with what I post. I do have some I'm really happy with but I don't want to flood the forum so I'm planning on slowly releasing them as I work through the shots.
Glen - Some great stats there, a shot every 2 minutes is pretty bloody amazing, scary too. And that is only on the D200, I was shooting on Katie's Canon as well, shucks...

Hello all - its great to be home.
One thing i thought i should mention about these pics that Craig left out was that they were taken at 11pm in the pouring rain ( i stayed in the car

) after he trecked through a sheep paddock and over where the water should have been!!!! after all that if they had been crap i would have been mighty pissed off!!!!!!!!

Craig mate, I like number 2 the best but perhaps it's a little too HDR? Seems a touch light on my monitor.

With this morning's temperatures being the coldest in 18 years, that wouldn't be too tough an ask.

Beautiful. #2 is something from a fantasy and I really like the pano crop of the windmill. I'm very new to photography and it's a wonder how much the crop changes the feel of the photo. Thank you for sharing.

Without intruding on Craig's thread, Welcome Shoegal. With a name like that it sounds if you already have one expensive hobby
