Spent some time out the back whilst on hols last week with the 300 f/2.8

Jury is still out on this one but I think it is a female Rufous Whistler (happy to be corrected)

My favourite is the first, I like the eye content and posture of the little Fantail.

Nice shots, Mark. I think my favorite is the first one. It must be hard to get the little critters to pose long enough for a good shot.

Lovely pics Slider - not sure about the female whistler - I have attached a link to a female pic which as markings on the chest that are quite distinctive. Not sure what it is :)

Chris, here is another shot of the mystery bird front on.

Was not far from the male Rufous Whistler, feeding on bugs and I believe they pair up. All sort of adds up. :roll:

Never mentioned NZ. These were in my backyard near Caboolture in SEQ. :D

omg i guess the aussie fantail is just a varient :O weird ...good shots
ever seen a kiwi fantail? there normally a yellowy colour....
