Queenscliff Headland - Graffiti or not?

There's been a lot of contention recently about this pink heart that has been there for many many years, it was put on in recognition of the Queenscliff Boardriders Club and many people want it taken off. The thought that if it's taken off, it will just as quickly be put back. It's been there as long as I remember.

Since 1986!

A little bit of further reading for anyone who's interested in it.

I have to agree with the decision as well. I'd like to see it left in place!

Often today's graffiti is tomorrow's history. Surely the point is - does it have a purpose (which I gather it does) as opposed to being some ephemeral act of self aggrandisement.

It's no worse than that weird 'The Saint' thing on Tower Hill in Townsville, that has been there as long as I can remember.
