Cold Day = Lone Swings

Be harsh...if it doesn't work, say so. I've purposely desaturated it to add to the cold/bleak day it was. Comments welcomed:

If I were to shoot this again I'd take a different angle to avoid the verticle pole going straight through the middle of the right swing. Hindsight...

Great, except for the vertical pole going straight through the middle of the right swing. :P It does convey a mood of cold - especially the colour of the OOF ocean behind.

Geoff, I love it - the desat, DOF and exposure are spot on. The only other suggestion would be to get lower down to avoid the green portion of the ground? Oh, and the vertical pole...

I like this photo very much, it does convey a bleak cold day at the beach. There's nothing more desolate than an empty playground. Maybe just depicting one swing would add even more to the "lonely" feel?

Great work Geoff. I like the shot and especially the cloning you did but I reckon you should also drop out the three brightly lit gaps in the rock wall. I find them quite distracting but, then again, I'm easily distracted!!

...... now thats better....... but what about the holes in the wall and a tad more contrast, just a tiny bit to give the image some bounce

Hi Geoff,

I prefer the second shot but it still niggles me slightly that the swings aren't above the line of the wall. In my head it looks right but might have done in practice.
The desat works well here though.
