we'll not so new born anymore - he's now about 6weeks old and have kept us awake every night... he's crying right now as i post this :D

hes a little cutie though...

this image was taken when he was 2 days old - still in the hospital with my 50mm @ f1.4 -- was waiting ages for him to yawn.. didnt get much shots when he was born as it was a long day that ended up being an emrgency C-Section.. I had to drop my gear in the birth unit as we rushed my wife to the operting theatre...

all good though - results were heathy mum and healthy bub... :D

Image

larger shot here http://www.marcel0.com/littleJoel.jpg though this too was resized to be posted for web...

pretty much straight of the camera - just croped it.. the 50mm is a briliant lense. pic is a little soft but me likes...

CC welcome .... :D

Congrats!! Beautiful shot with many more to come no doubt, along with a somewhat disturbed sleep pattern for you guys :).

Lovely image that I would have liked to have seen a greater DOF but that's nit picking a little...I think this would also convert to B&W nicely.

Congratulations on your new boy, and a nice shot. Sounds like he is giving his lungs a workout. You will have lots of good photo opportunities, with such a beautiful subject.

Beautiful shot!

I always think DSLRusers' kids will count themselves fortunate to have such an excellent photographic record of their childhood years :D

Thanks for the feedback guys... will try some PP -- i was going through some of his pics when he was born and i saw that.. something about that photo that just appeals to me... maybe its the bub :D hehehehe...

He is actually smiling and responding a lot now - cant believe how quick he develops - hes also making little noises as if he's trying to talk/communicate with you. 'n without a fail for the past 5 or so days, he’s woken up between 6:30am - 7:00am..
He's now my new alarm clock.. though he also wakes up 11pm, 1am, 2:30am, 4am etc etc....

Will def have more pics to come..

:D

Beautiful photo - I can appreciate the sleeplessness, as our 8 week old sometimes decides that he wants everyone within 5km to know that he is awake at 2am, although, you forget about the tiredness when you see them smile, coo, or just look really cute.

Congrats on junior's arrival, don't worry, he will start to sleep and settle down by the times he's about 8-9 (years, not months)...

You have a 6 week old, we have an 8 week old. At you ====> "Newb". 6 weeks was, like, so, 2 weeks ago

Be ready for a change in the next couple of weeks. Our boy was having his last feed at about 10:30/11pm and then sleeping for 5-7 hours. Now, he goes to sleep at about 8:30pm and wakes up at 3-4am.

Whilst 8 weeks is only a short amount of time, it's amazing how quickly it flies, yet, at the same time, early June (when he was born) seems like ages ago. :D
