the first is good but you don't really see the damage like you can on the colour version.
The Bagpiper is a ripper shot !
The Bride is also a great capture.

Love the third, great shot and conversion. And also the last, exposure looks perfect in some tricky lighting..

Steve,

AS we agreed when looking at it on the LCD, the Piper was always going to be a cracker of a shot. Keep it up your sleeve for any portrait competitions - it's a classic image.

I know our knocked-about little mate only wanted you to take shots with his cap off but I reckon that was a shame. I find his straggly hair detracts from the image rather than enhances it. He looked much more of a character with his cap on.

Thanks for the comments folks. I agree that my new mate Alan looks much better with his hat on. I think that the B&W conversion also helped to soften the look somewhat.

Maybe I am just a sucker but I don't think that he actually realised how bad he looks all banged up and with the dreads. I suspect that he is just down and out and actually the life hardened smile is a more accurate portrail of the real dude.

Not so sure about that idea that I will be inviting him around for coffee with the wife and kids though

Still amazed that I got all of those shots within about 100m of each other :!:
