Hi Big V,
cool photos
What did you think of the domes on Mt Stromlo ?
Are they
models of observatories ?

You've got some really nice light happening in #3 and #4. It's brought these images to life.

Christian, I think the domes on the site of the old workshops have smaller telescopes in them - so basic astronomy / research can continue while the larger facilities are being rebuilt. (however, nothing will replace what was lost at Stromlo...)

CD, the smaller domes are part of the outreach program that they run. There is a meade 12 inch in one, a celestron 11 inch in the middle one and in the last one is one of the oldest refractors in Australia. I was there as part of Australian Inrternational Space School. Here are some pics of some of the damage from the fire.

Thanks for the info Big V.
I had a close look at these little domes and could not figure out how somebody would be able to enter them and or operate them.
They looked as if they were bolted tight and I thought they were
models.

I love the angles that all of the straight lines in number 2 creates.
also enjoyed the pictures of the remnants of Mt Stromlo. Are these previous pictures or what they have left as a reminder of the fires?

Seeing pics of my home town make me homesick sometimes. I still have photos taken directly after the fires, in the suburb my youngest sister lives in, Duffy. I think the heart was ripped out of Canberra the day those fires came through.

These are wonderfully strong images showing great use of the sharp angles and all those leading lines in all but the last. Very impressive and great use of colour too
