Sultry - I think so?

Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

The first one is kinda sultry.... the darkness is sorta moody too...and the last one.. yeah I would say that its also sultry... nice pos8ng and expression there...

but the other two don't seem so sultry to me... her hair isnt blowing right giving her a flat head appearance and her arm doesnt look connected to her body... sorry.. :)
The last thing I want to do is hurt you... but it's still on the list... ;)

Dan,

No ... I don't believe that somebody being "sultry" would be doing a hair flick. The two simply don't go together.

Sorry.

relaxed pose leaning on the wall, yes. eyes, and soft jaw, head tilt, yes, like them all, and sultry.

the hair is the against the grain element that is part of your style Dan, they look great, and have a good edge.

'Sultry' might require the lighting to be a bit more subdued (perhaps less than the first one), and yes the hair probably doesn't quite work with the concept.

That's not to say they're not good images though! I particularly like #2, and also #4.

sultry is usually defined by the lighting as well as the pose by the model, maybe lips pouting, etc. I think the blown hair really detracts from the sultry mood that you were going for.

also personally I think sultry can be defined by an air of mystery as well which is usually shown in the eyes.

Shame on you Paul, dragging the thread off-topic. ;)

Only had a chance to shoot a couple of frames thus far; been far too busy.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to put the 30D and D200 side by side for some <strike>lowlife</strike>low light shooting tonight. I'll be at the Stag if anyone's interested in coming along and supporting local music.
