experimenting with the new 17-35, enjoying the wider angle, up close.

C&C MOST appreciated (ignore bluriness due to 300dpi to 72dpi conversion...)

The image is a little dark perhaps. The first thing i thought of when i saw it was 'chocolate.' I don't know why but the image put that thought in my mind. But that's not very helpful to your quest for C&C.

I need to work on poses, I get a lot of shot that look ok, if the pose was comfortable/natural. Working with experienced models is so different to first timers...

OK Oz I will get the ball rolling,

First, I think we all need good friends that look like yours.

Second, the angle of the shot makes it to hard to for me to look at comfortably and judge the merits of the photo, it may be fine but its just to difficult to look at.

cheers Rick. PS the model isn't hard to look at just the angle, it just doesn't look natural to me.

funny you should mention chocolate. when I rolled out this backdrop (new furnishing leatherette from fabric shop) the girls couldnt stop talking about chocolate.

on the dark side, I burned in the edges, perhaps too much, as the faux leather had a lot of shine on it, distracting from the subject.

lol, its great having friends happy to pose for me when I try out new things, like the 17-35. I dont have much experience in portraits with this lens, and I agree with you, camera angle is a little unnatural... the 17-35 can add pounds, and take them away, just depends where things are... its very nice, and I enjoy learning with it!

I thought the same at the time, the shots after this were without the bracelets, but I really enjoyed this pose and angle.

the pose is good i think she looks alluring

but the angle makes it hard to look at, there is foreshortening from the waist down

usually distorion on fashion images is fine if your shooting low and front on to make the model look taller but at this angle the wide angle effect takes away from the image

also not sureif its the lighting your post production or the models skin
but there is a lighter patch of skin tone arouhd the ribs and underarm, the skin tone from the waist down to feet looks really nice, would be better if you can maintian that tone across the whole body

this should be noted that most models even the experienced ones need lots of direction in pose
its up to the photographer to work out the shapes in the pose so i'd say develop your pose ideas and dont be afraid to perfect them im sure it will benefit both you and the model if you work a little harder on that aspect

lighting and background look fine

to get a better angle dont be afraid to get up higher and closer to the model to get the right angle

i shot this glamour shot(my only one ever) standing on the bed at 20mm i think the angle is good

next chapter in my self study is posing, and instruction thereof...

the un even lighting was my lighting, second softbox was small, and closer to her face, thats the underarm and ribs...

agree on the angles, lots to learn, but I'm loving it!
