Despite the hideously expensive parking fees, we took Junior to Clontarf Reserve, given the beautiful afternoon. He was asleep for much of the time, but the afternoon was amazing.

I was trying to capture the beauty of the afternoon light, but manage the dynamic range created by the light. C&C appreciated.

The first was with some fill flash (I should have used the gel to better balance the colour).

What a gorgeous place to pass away an afternoon... and the weather looks like it was suberb as well..

the second image is my pic of them all... its composed just right with the sun spraying out from behind that tree... but I suspect that the first image will be the one that will the more loved in years to come.. what a peaceful scene... :)

Thanks for that - unfortunately, we were a bit rushed and couldn't really spend too much time taking photos. We took the Bronica (for which we do not have a neck strap), so juggling the two cameras around was a bit of fun (shooting one-handed with the D200!)

Yeah, awesome tree shot. Love the golden color and the shadows it produced

Thanks guys. I am thinking a square crop may suit the tree shot better, to try to give it a sense of symmetry around the base of the tree.

Yes I think a square crop on the tree would work, great lighting in the image. Good effort on the portrait also, maybe just try and darken the white of the box near the fisherman.
