Hi all,

Here is one from my latest client shoot...

Image

I love this shot, however am not sure how to get rid of the blotchy baby skin (or even if I should). Part of me likes it becouse that is what newborns look like but then I would like to see a smoother version.

If anyone would like to have a go at removing the blotcheness please let me know what you did.

Also C&C more than welcome.

Cheers,
Andrew

Hey,

It would probably be easier to do this from a colour file as part of the issue may be in the conversion method. Have you got one?

Classic baby shot, I would leave the skin. To me thats how babies look.

Did you use flash on the baby at all?? I was told not to flash the eyes of any child under 1!!

Lovely conversion also.

Regards
MATT

Nice image. That's what most babies look like at that age and that is what the parents will remember. But maybe it's worth giving them the option.

If you want to try a skin smoothing technique you could try this tutorial:

Thanks for the comments guys.

Matt - I was using the studio lights I got from Poon, I really only had one light on the subject, with the softbox, and the second light was *trying* to light the background to eliminate any shadows. The reason I say *trying* is because it did not always work, but when converted to B&W does not matter.

Wocka - Thanks for the link. The example in the tutorial looks very plastic, I could probably just take an image of my daughters new lifelike doll (yes the ones that do EVERYTHING a real baby does (I am sooooo against it!!!)) But with a little adjusting I think the tutorial could work.

Macka - I do have the original, I will upload one later. Conversion was just in Lightroom.

Cheers.
