Managed a few reasonable images with 70-200 VR this morning while enjoying a great weekend at Cypress Lakes. These little guys are certainly hard to pin down! :?
(Levels + some cropping in PS used)
This was my last practice session in preparation for our 19 night safari in Zambia, leaving on Friday.
C&C welcome.
Cheers
Marc

Marc,

I think the second is the best of the three. The bird is pretty sharp and you have good separation from the background.

The first is a bit busy with the bush and also the dappled light on the bird takes away from the image - although is natural looking.

The third one doesn't look sharp on my monitor. I don't know if it is too much contrast, movement, or chromatic aberration.

They are very difficult birds to photograph and about all you can do is sit on one place and hope they come to you.

I like the first, great job in showing that little hyperactive bird in his natural environment. Maybe a slightly tighter crop so theres not so much emptiness on the left??

The 2nd and 3rd are good, but the full sun seems to have bleached a bit of the colour, I also found the rocks a little harsh and distracting.

Well done in persevering with the hunt and getting some good shots,
Robert

I think you're right Robert, the rocks provide just a bit too much contrast, however, one must photograph when one can. The hazard of midday photography
