Hi All,

I've just got back from an overseas trip and I have a few pics but thought I'd post one up here to get some ideas for improvement.

Craig (Alpha_7) has inspired me to get into this photography thing a bit more, much to my wallet's disgust :D

Anyway, I'm really new to this stuff so I'd appreciate any advice.

Here's the pic:

Cheers,

Glenn

Hey Glenn,

Welcome to the forum and good to see you posting, I think this shot suffers from too much "headroom" the clock tower has too much negative space above for my likely. Other then that the I know you haven't tinkered with any of your shots yet, but I'd say a little boost in staturation or working the curves would give this shot a little more pop!

Yes I agree with Craig. I know that you won't be able to reshoot but I would really have liked the composition moved down. I find myself looking downwards to see the bottom and you want the focus to be on the clock. Welcome to the forum and well done on posting an image too!

Thanks guys.

I was trying to get the people in front of me and the street out of the shot. For some reason these few people saw "the guy with a big camera" and stood in front of me to get my shot :P

Guess I've learnt the hard way you can always crop something out but harder to go the other way.

I'll put up a couple more when I get home tonight.

Yeah now you have a DSLR you'll have to get use to the randoms that will want to be in your shot, or treat you like a pro or worse a perv.

Here's a few more.

The first one is taken at the Small Fortress concentration camp in Terezin, Czech Republic. Second is the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Third is the in the solitary confinement barracks at Dachau concentration camp near Munich.

Hi Glenn,

The 1st one doesn't do much for me. Not sure why.

#3 is great IMO. Something about it appeals to me.

And welcome to the forum. Good to see another member from the Gong. :)
