Plain and simple, as seen from Mt Coot-tha look-out:

Does it work? What do Brisbanians think? It looked like a beautiful modern city to me, full of contrast...

Cheers
Steffen.

It is a pretty city.. as far as cities go that is... but I don't think that your image is doing it justice... perhaps because its mono maybe... I think I would like to see it in colour... :)

I like it, and I like the treatment too.

I think I'd like to see some of the trees in the foreground cropped out; maybe get rid of about half of them? (I'll lend you my chainsaw)

Steffen,

I like the treatment you gave the image as well. Second vote for a crop at the bottom as well.

Cheers,

André

The trees shouldn't be missed. It's only the Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens..

Knowing what the colours actually are, I must say I really like this version Steffen. It's quite different.

Thanks for the replies, everyone!

Sue, colour wouldn't have worked in this case - there hardly was any. The shot was taken in the mid-day haze, and looked really washed out. Mono was the only way to rescue it. Next time I'm in Brisbane I'll try to catch some quality light.

I obtained the chainsaw plugin for Aperture, this is the result:

Which do you like better?

depends what you're going for. Personally, I think the first pic has too many trees trying to compete for attention...it makes it not look so 'modern' and almost like the buildings are pee wee in comparison to the trees.

I think the 2nd pic is better if you want to emphasise the city but it all depends on what you want out of the shot.

Do you want Brisbane to be a green city?
