Hi Everyone, im new on this forum. i stumbled across it accidentally and glad i have. I wondering if i could share some of my first photos i have taken with My New Nikon D80 a fair upgrade from the old fujifilm S5700. these shots were taken just around my area. I would love some C & C please as this is the first time ive shot with an actual SLR. And loving it btw the D80 is a beast.

Welcome...Looks like you are doing good things with your new D80.

I like 1 and 3...For me the flower shot just doesn't have an in focus point of interest.

Before someone else chips in I think there is a max four photo per post suggestion in the FAQ.

Anyway some good urban grungy stuff. Hope to see more soon.

I like the Blue Triangle in shot number 7. Thought maybe it was a play on your name or was it subconscious?
The shot with the tyres interests me but the expanse of white wall detracts IMO. Maybe worth considering cropping it a bit to accentuate the pattern and texture of the tyres. BTW limiting posts to 4 images has benefits ie makes you think more about which image represents your theme best. For example in this series the orange flower breaks the impact of your series but would look fine if placed in a separate post. (and of course it helps people who don't have "fast" internet.)

Cheers guys, Yes the flower is a bit odd. I think i needed to perhaps focus pf the Blooming flower and not the pod.

Thanks for the warning.. 4Pics next time it is. (Im going out today somewhere should be fun) And i agree with you.. 4pics will better represent the theme of the shoot.

The triangle thing i think might have been subconscious.. But i like your thinking.

On the second image, think about cropping it square, and losing all of the negative space above the tyres, which, IMHO, adds nothing to this image.

I like the series of shots, you've spotted many intersting shots in your area, which is one sign of a good photographer IMO. Most peole would just walk past and ignore what you have shot.
I think you've over done the angles shots a bit although that is probably highlighted by the fact you posted so many shots in one hit.
I like #10 best for some reason but can't put my finger on why.

Thanks Adz for posting, not too keen on the angular shots, I think they work better sparingly used, the 2nd shot looks a bit tyred ( ), there are heaps of seasoned photographers on this forum who will no doubt be happy to encourage your talent along!

Don't tilt your camera unless there is is a very strong reason for doing so. It produces 2 minute quasi art. You have a creative eye and you capture strong negative shapes so it's a sure bet your photograph skills are going to improve very rapidly. Keep posting!
