I'm not fan of either, I find hard to get my eyes around the first one, the 2nd one is better in this case. Maybe it's the odd perspective to me

I like the use of selective DoF. Is this all lens based or is there some PP work done to enhance it?

To be honest I can't see the focal point on the first, with a focal point this would have worked much better IMO.

The second perhaps some selective sharpening on the cleat will help it to stand out more. I do like the perspective of it, would look great with a line leading to a yacht though :D

I agree with this, I also think that a pano crop just below the cleat would improve it.
