i had to tak a self portrait for a magazine im contributing to (its even written on my hand...), so i thought i'd have a bit of a muck around with lighting etc.
this is the shot i liked the most, i'd like some opinions... it's the first time i've had a crack at this sort of thing, so dont be too harsh... but don't go easy either!!!
taken with my d70s wearing a 50mm 1.8
the camera is sharper than me, on purpose, i wanted it to be more about the fact im a photo guy... the camera is my tool...

Hmm... It's crap in a nice sort of way... Kidding. I like it. I think it works well. I'd probably just suggest a bit more light on the camera itself. It looks just a little bit dark. jamesw wrote:the camera is sharper than me, on purpose, i wanted it to be more about the fact im a photo guy... the camera is my tool...
If you are going for that effect (which I also think works well), try making it even more out of focus. You might have to use PS to do it though.

James,
I like the shot and the graffiti. I think it fits in well with your target audience.
I agree that the camera needs a little more ligh on it.
I would suggest as a total spin out, to have your left eye looking at the viewer instead of the focus point of the camera.
Cheers

i think i had two flashes, one behind me to the right pointed at the ceiling (to diffuse) and one in front to the left pointed at the ceiling too.
