Thanks for the comments Pa.
I'd have to say that the 3rd one is my favourite of the bunch too. The flower just stood out amongst a dark green surrounding.
The first shot is growing on me though

I like the subject of the first, but I think getting in closer, and concentrating on a a smaller part of the catcus would of helped, also getting the background to be a little less distracting through shallow DOF (if possible) or just placing the camera in a position to reduce the background business.
#2 looks a bit flat, did you use flash or is that all natural lighting ?
#3 Last one works well, good separation form the background but I'd consider getting closer and filling the frame more with the flower.
