I love the character in the first one. The second one is a bit soft and to dark/light for me.

I like No.1 for both its good technical execution and aesthetics. You could look at that photo for a long time wondering what he is thinking. No.2 is also good.

Really liking #1. My focus does seem to be drawn though to the shadow (?) on his cheek.

Loving the sense of Casablanca or Maltese Falcon that it conveys. Great example of how 2 B & W images can be so different.

I am enjoying #1 Theo. Great feel to the portrait. Lighting and the grittiness achieved really suit the portrait. Terrific.

Does anyone else think he looks like a grundgy Gene Kelly minus the umbrella and the rain? :lol:

Definitely a Gene Kelly look alike, very well taken. I also like the second one, albeit very light in tones but different. Ozi.

Theodoros, it is number one! It is a cross between Gene Kelly and Humphrey Bogart. By the way, what is the mark in the face? The second one is very good also, but you shouldn't have posted together too much of a contrast.

The mark in the face is a tradition sign of the participants of the team that i shoot for. They call this foumo (something like coaldust) and at the 4 days that Anakatosaria takes place, all the city "wears" foumo
