Nice Matt! A bit of motion blur on the RHS tree perhaps, long-ish exposure? You're right, the D70 is much better for IR than the D200.

I like the bluish tone, maybe a crop of the foreground might help with composition- I can see the lead in of the road but a crop just above and below the trees may look OK,
I ask this of every IR shot I see- what filter? I havent seen too many done with anything but an R72.

Matt - I really like this shot but agree with Robert, a small crop at the bottom would improve this already great shot. Where is it?

Matt, this is a lovely image. Did you an IR filter on your camera or did you used a software package to get the effect?

Love it Matt.
Couuld you give us an overview of your PP steps? Especially how you get the blue sky.

Great effect! but I agree with the others on cropping the top and bottom sections a bit. Still very nicely done though.

Ok.
This is how I did it, I am by no means an expert and have just started the IR road.
The Camera is a D200 which stated earlier is not the best for IR.I need to track down a d70 working body for $250(if any ones got one), kit lens and a r72 IR filter.
Frist step is to set a Custom White Balance. With the filter on , point the camera at a very bright green patch of grass. I had to do a 13 sec f8 setting to get a good WB reading.
Then with the D200 on a tripod compose the image without the filter set focus to manual. Then reattach the r72 filter.
Set the exposure at around 15 sec f8-10 (focus point seems to change a little for IR ). Take image and check exposure on your Histogram, then change setting as as required to get a better exposure(I find it better to slightly over expose).
Once you have your image, load it into photoshop.(it will be all red)
Hit the Auto Levels.
Then go to Channel Mixer and change "Red CHannel " red to 0 and blue to 100. Then go to "BLUE Channel" change red to 100 and blue to 0.
This will get you close, then muck around with the numbers until you are happy.
I find that the custom white balance has the biggest effect on the outcome.
I hope this helps some..

Thanks Matt.

If you shoot RAW, can't you just adjust the WB during PP?
