No one (at least that I know of) knows what this thing really is. So most people just call it that "thing" in Elwood. Shot as usual on the way home from work. Used the ND8 (Grad) filter on it. C&C most welcome.

It's a shipping marker. You can find them all over the coastal areas of Australia. Ship's use them as reference points when taking compass fixes to ensure they are in the right spot, such as in a channel.

It's a great photo too. Both the composition and B&W rendition are excellent.

How mundane. :roll: Here was I thinking it was a badly built dunny relic from the 19th century that had weathered badly.
