Today was the annual Brisbane South Bank criterium races. The criterium is a tactical team race where points are awarded at different times during the race. This means that there are periods of consolidation as well as times when the cyclists make breaks on the field.

Oh, and there were belly dancers too!

Love number 3. There seems to be a funny halo around the bike riders though, almost like they are glowing or something.

It is called post processing and I don't think much of it in this case

Thanks for your honest assessment, folks. Now that I revisit this image, I agree with your comments.

My original intention was to darken the roadway. There is nothing like bitumen in the Queensland sunshine to make your photos a nightmare!

Anyway, I have re'shopped the image (because I think it has potential), and realising that my masking technique doesn't cut it, I have left that part out.

I would now appreciate some further feedback.

the third one is the one with the most potential, I think. Your second version is better but there still seems to be some brush strokes around the arms, more prominent on the rider's left side.

The expression on the rider's face really makes it so the viewer really needs to look at the larger version to appreciated it.

I agree with the above comments. It would seem that the brush you are using in photoshop needs to be hardened up a little to achieve a solid edge between the rider and the background. What techniques are you currently using to PP this image?
