Bernie, try the in-camera calibration on the D300.

....... the learning curve with this piece of glass is a tad longer than any other. It has taken me a few months to get used to using said lens hand holding and with a gimbal head on a tripod. The new focus system on the D300 has helped a lot when shooting wide open as you have to be sure of being in focus as the focus area is very small when working wide open

Bernie am interested in the 120-300 backfocus issue? Who are you sending it to and what info do they need to recalibrate the lens? Oh, how much to recalibrate?![]()
