Took a few seascapes over the weekend near Victor Harbor in SA. Wanting some C&C and which shot people prefer.
Also all my shots tend to be soft even when shooting at f/8 and a decent shutter speed. I'm using a Canon 17-85 on a 20D. Any explanation?

I'd have to say I like #1 the best, but they're not really doing much for me. I think the FG's are too dark/plain and also the corners are suffering, especially in #1. Not sure if it's a vignette added or the lens at 17mm..

How soft do you mean they come out? You shoot JPG? Use tripod, etc?

The vignetting was straight from the camera unfortunately. Sometimes it can make the shot and sometimes it can break in :(

As for sort i'm shooting in basic Jpeg till i buy some more memory, then it's RAW. I used a tripod, selftimer and checked the focus but its still soft

Vignetting is an easy fix in PP especially if you shoot RAW, along with all other PP. Never used that lens, so not sure what it's like or where it performs best at..

I'd at least shoot JPG Fine 'till you get some more space, as Basic is, well, basic. Too much compression for my liking..

Also, try turning up the sharpening to a higher setting in-camera if you haven't already.
