This afternoon went down the coast a bit with my new bird shooting buddy to check out a site and plan an approach for shooting some rainbow bee eaters in the upcoming breeding season.
We walked a couple of K and saw plenty of birds and located some sites and planned our approach to things.
Then we headed to Bulcock Beach for a coffee and spotted two Osprey feeding on a small bream up in the Norfolk Pines. Had all the gear on board and managed several good keepers.
Here is but a few.

great shots. how close could you get to them before they startled ?
they are so sharp and clear that it almost makes them look unatural, esp the 2nd and 3rd, where the outline of the bird and branch looks almost photshopped.

Really like number 2. The bird feels like its engaging with the viewer.

Bob,

great captures you got on the osprey. As for constructive comments, on the first one, I would have liked a bit more space on the left so the tail feathers are not so close to the edge. It would have also been great to get separation between the two birds but sometimes, that just can't happen.

Out of the three here, the second is my pick due to the eye contact,

cheers,

André
