2002?

I had a look for one of these a while ago on Ebay - say a stock version for about $400 and an Alpina for abour $25,000!

No, it's an e21. I'd probably be killed to death if I did this to a 2002. Waaaay too many fans!

I love the old bimmers, and your right, the alpina 2002's are getting bloody expensive, id love to get a 2002 (probably not an alpina, i doubt ill ever afford one of them), and modify it, as much as i like them, and as much as people would look at me with disgust, its just something i do, and find it more entertaining to shoehorn a motor much larger than the capacity of the original, into an engine bay that was never designed to have an engine of that size in it, and go from there!

Make sure someone is taking pics of the rally when you get it there! or a video, would be great to see, wish more of my mates had land that i could do that sort of thing on, and i wish i had the funds to have as many cars as you!

Doc, if its just a normal 2002 then you can probably get away with anything as long as it looks good! 2002 track cars are absolutely worshiped. There will be plenty of pics and vids to follow in the next few weeks and I'm going for the in car camera route for the actual rally! It should be properly driveable by Friday night so i might start making merry with the paint over the weekend unless something else blows up! As for money for the cars, they've all been bought really cheaply (most under $2k) and done up by me. Doing the work yourself and knowing the right people makes things A LOT cheaper!

Yeah, plain 2002 i could probably get away with, but some bimmer fans are like rotor fans, its blasphemy to touch them, which kinda makes it more entertaining to see the purists faces when something completely out of the ordinary is done to it!

The track ones are great to watch on the odd occasion i manage to catch them, thats for sure, waiting for someone to build one into a drift car, that could be entertaining!

Ill certainly follow that thread and watch what happens, i love this sort of stuff!

Like a 460 block in an otherwise very stock Mark I Cortina, including venetian blinds, stock rims and tail pipe (apart from the massive hole cut out of the muffler). I saw this in Street Machine years ago, and it was fantastic. Beats all the doof-doof cars any day.
