Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Floriade attempt number 1

Postby ja_S_on on Tue Sep 23, 2008 4:49 pm

I grabbed the gear and went for a quick trek over to Floriade on Saturday. Unfortunately upon arrival i realised my mistake in going on the weekend - there were a million people there and to add insult to injury it was blowing a gale. Nevertheless i grabbed out the Siggie and decided it was time for the flash to get its first go.

Here are some of the results of the trip - I'm planning on heading back there a couple more times so any C & C is more than appreciated!

Thanks

Hi Jason,

Good to see that your trip down there was worth it. I am hoping to get down there on Thursday all going well....

The Pics:
1) I quite like this shot, but would love to see a slightly tighter crop on the detail myself.
2) Whilst it is a good shot, it lacks something in my opinion. Perhaps a tighter crop would be better (crop to show only the detail, removing the OOF LHS)?
3) The bottom is great, the top seems to be a little bit over exposed. If this was taken with a flash, perhaps it was a lens shadow? I love the detail, and the effect though!
4) I love this shot, but just want more depth of field!

Just my $0.02,
Tristan

I like the last one most, even with (and maybe because) the shallow depth of field. Whatcamera settings were you using?
