I haven't posted here for awhile, but, have been keeping an eye on all the nice shots

These were from the final of the Brisbane Div2 league last weekend.

Nice shots there Darren. You certainly have that 300 working well.

Thanks for the comments. The 300 is certainly one fine piece of glass.

You've captured some great action there, but a couple of these images seem to be guilty of oversharpening themselves.

There is a fair bit of haloing evident, particularly in the first and second, but also in the others. In the first, look around the exposed area of the gentleman-in-orange's thigh: this whole area is surrounded by haloing at those edges. The same person's left forearm and hand and fingers ...the underside of the other gentleman's right forearm, and the front section of his shirt. In the second, the line that follows this person's right shoulder and down to his upper right arm, the leading edge of his left thigh, and the exposed area of his back.

You might like to have your images review their PP techniques. :)

probably just a a trick of the image, but that dudes leg in # 3 (white sock) looks wrong!

you have captured some really nice images from that match, clearly more than the just good gear, good timing etc....

Thanks Gary, you have a good eye that I appreciate the benefit of here.

I'll wind back the sharpening a tad - I have just started using LR/Mogrify plug-in for Lightroom (it's very good by the way) and it's taking some getting used to as far as the USM settings are concerned during batch processing.

Re the tackle - I believe that the ankle was broken in this one. :(

Ageeing with Gary on the sharpening but apart from that, an excellent series of FOOTBALL shots. . .

Football is the paramount game played the world over with a round ball and was originally codified in 1863 and defined as Association Football and the word soccer is believed to be a bastardisation of the word Association.

God only knows how Australia can name a game as footy when most of the time the ball is in the hands of the players :|   8) Scratches head, farts and takes a swig of the coldie - go the Gunners
